Welcome to The Wild Memoir… a quiet space where image and memory meet.
Hi, I’m Deidré.
I’m a South African wildlife enthusiast, photographer, and writer now living in Sweden. Dee’s Wild Diary began as a way to honour my lifelong love for wild spaces and the stories they hold. What started as a personal archive has grown into a journey of storytelling, one frame at a time.
I trained as a photographer early in life but spent many years away from the lens. During that time, I worked in creative and communications roles. I found my way back through a return to nature, encouragement from loved ones, and the quiet persistence of my camera.
This blog, The Wild Memoir, is where I reflect on that journey. It holds the stories behind the images, the rediscovery of voice, and the quiet moments that shaped it all. You’ll find glimpses of southern Africa’s wild soul, notes on birding and conservation, and thoughts on art, identity, and belonging.
Thank you for being here. Whether you’re a fellow creative, a nature lover, or simply passing through, I hope something here speaks to you.
🖤
Dee
